Our programs support our service members while they are on the front line, as they are being discharged and long after they return. Your tax-deductible donation will be immediately directed to the VFW programs where your support is most urgently needed.
A satirical reflection by Author/Artist Phil Fehrenbacher
Phil enlisted in the Army in 1965 where you served for years in Vietnam. He became a graphic designer and has worked for the state of Oregon for 26 years. He retired in 2003 and started the Cartoon "In-Country". The cartoons reflect his experiences during his tour of duty in South Vietnam.

Commander Ronald Eagle
Dear Comrades,
My name is Ronald Eagle, and I am honored and humbled to introduce myself as the newly elected Commander of VFW Post 573, as we consolidate with Salem Post 9151. I want to personally welcome all of the Salem Post 9151 members to Post 573, It is a privilege to serve an organization that has meant so much to our veterans, our community, and to each one of us who has worn the uniform of our nation.
As we move
forward, I am asking for your active participation and support. Our Post is
only as strong as the members who stand behind it. Your involvement is critical
to ensuring that we continue to fulfill the VFW mission of serving veterans,
their families, and our local community.
I strongly
encourage every member to attend our meetings on the 1st and 3rdMonday at 7PM. It is understood that not everyone can make every meeting, so we
are just asking for at least one meeting a month. These gatherings are vital for discussing
Post business, planning events, and staying informed about upcoming
opportunities to make a difference. I personally feel your voice and your input
are important to the future success of Post 573.
Additionally, we
are in dire need of support for our fundraising efforts this year. Also, our
building is constantly in need of upkeep and repair, some of these items
financially beyond our capability. If you have skills in construction,
electrical, or just a handy person with a hammer, we could use your help.
Fundraising activities are also essential to support our programs, community
outreach, and services for veterans in need. We need your help, whether by
volunteering your time, sharing your ideas, or simply spreading the word about
our events. Together, we can accomplish great things.
Thank you for your
service, your dedication, and your continued support of VFW Post 573 as the
consolidation progresses. I look forward to seeing you at our meetings and
working alongside you as we build an even stronger future for our Two Post’s, along
with our Salem and Clarksburg communities.
We have added
several fun activities to our canteen, from open mic night to Karaoke, dart
tournaments and pool tournaments. If you just want to enjoy a quiet, peaceful
night out, our canteen is there for your enjoyment.
If you have any
questions, suggestions, or wish to get involved right away, please feel free to

VFW can be to you or you family.

new web site, www.vfw573.com we always update

As this is bitter sweet
moment in the closing of the Salem Post, I want to take the opportunity to
commend Amy Lowe and Garry McCoy for their efforts in trying to save the Salem
post. They have been instrumental in the smooth transition of consolidating the
two posts.
Yours in
comradeship,
Ronald
